Turkish Airlines began operations in the few years just prior to World War II in May of 1933. Four planes with a total capacity of 23 passengers marked the humble beginnings of this company. Their fleet did not see another plane until 1945. The airline has ordered twelve of the most advanced long-haul, heavy aircraft in the world, namely the Boeing 777-300ER, one of which they have already received. Thanks to their route expansion strategy, the airline has seen climbing profits over the past five years. The days of flying only 23 passengers at a time are long behind them and Turkish Airlines has gained some valuable knowledge and experience in that time. There seems to be an increase in passenger flow especially among expatriates. Once they pick good international moving company to relocate, then their next move is to estimate moving costs, and select Turkish Airlines as their carrier of choice.
Turkish Airlines was awarded the “Market Leadership Award” 2011 by ‘Air Transport World’, a leading magazine within the aviation industry. This is an internationally recognized achievement for the airline that was presented during a ceremony held in Washington D.C.
As we all know, the past number of years have been an exceedingly challenging environment for just about all businesses around the world. The airline industry is universally recognized as following national and global economies, in general. However, the strong marketing efforts and innovative management of Turkish Airlines saw them ride through the worst of the global financial crisis and still turn a strong profit. Manchester United, the English soccer team, signed a contract with Turkish Airlines in October of 2010, after intense negotiations. Turkish Airlines and Manchester United will team up to create a high-tech TV ad that will show the new business class concept the airline has developed. There are many reasons that both sides find this a great project. The idea of the new series of commercials is for them to feature some of the top players having a great time while traveling business class with Turkish Airlines.
Members of the Miles & Smiles rewards programs and the Elite Plus incentives schemes will now benefit from having memberships melded into one account. Essentially, the Elite Plus members will enjoy greater convenience because their earned miles will be located in a single account.
This isn’t just for individual members, but their family members will also have any miles generated applied to them, too. Earning more miles is as easy as using the Miles & Smiles credit card to pay for purchases, or booking flights from airlines within the Star Alliance partnership. There have been many benefits derived for Turkish Airlines as a result of them diversifying their marketing efforts.
However, this is a standard business practice for most businesses. Yet many businesses simply don’t bother to reinvest in their own growth, as Turkish Airlines have wisely done. Not only has it made the airline stronger, but it’s allowed passengers to reap those benefits too.
